Wheat prices under pressure from US tariff uncertainty

Feed Wheat

London feed wheat for November 2025 fell to £174.65, down 1.6% from last week's closing price of £177.45. Grain prices typically come under pressure during the harvest period due to increased supply, but they fell further as global commodity markets weakened amid uncertainty over outstanding US trade talks ahead of tariff deadlines. With currency moves modest, market pressure spread from the US to Europe. The carry to May 2026 widened to £12.00.

On Hectare Trading, new crop feed wheat achieved offers up to £193 in the West Midlands for May 2026 movement, with a price offer range of £13, and saw offers of £186 in Central Scotland for September 2025 movement, with an offer range of £6.

We’ve seen quite a good carry on Hectare Trading into September and October versus harvest movement, with instances of farmers earning an extra £5 per tonne just by accepting a September movement over August — keep an eye out for these opportunities!

Milling Wheat

Paris milling wheat for September 2025 edged up to €196.25 (£169.65), up 0.4% from last week's closing price of €195.50 (£169.00). The carry to December 2025 narrowed to £5.40.

Futures were pressured by doubts over a US-Canada trade deal, which is key for the oilseed market, as the US remains the largest buyer of Canada’s canola oil and meal. The carry to November 2025 widened to £17.29.
