UK wheat production revised up, futures under pressure
Feed Wheat
UK wheat production for 2025/26 was provisionally estimated by AHDB at 11.836 Mt, up 6% on last year, although still 8% below the previous five-year average. London feed wheat (November 2025) has been hitting new contract lows all week, settling on Thursday at £159.25.
We’ve seen more forward-selling of 2026 feed wheat on Hectare Trading, which achieved £189 for July 2027 movement in North East Scotland. Meanwhile, this year’s crop received £180 for March 2026 movement in Northumberland & Scottish Borders and £179 for January 2026 movement in Cornwall, with a price offer range of £6.
Milling Wheat
Facing competition from Argentine and Black Sea exports, Paris milling wheat (December 2025) has struggled to make significant gains this week, closing Thursday at €189.75 (£165.55).
On Hectare Trading, we’ve seen offers up to £185 on Group 1 wheat in East Anglia for movement in January. Group 2 wheat received up to £172 for movement next month, with an £8 offer range.
Meanwhile, Group 4 (soft) wheat achieved £182 in Northumberland & Scottish Borders for June 2026 movement. In Yorkshire and the Humber, Group 4 (hard) wheat gained £179 for movement in February.
Oilseeds
The completion of Canada’s canola harvest and high production expectations in Australia weighed on the market this week. After dipping at the end of last week, Paris rapeseed (November 2025) recovered to €472.00 (£411.80) at Thursday’s close.
Oilseed rape achieved £407 in North East Scotland on Hectare Trading, for movement in June 2027.
Other Crop
UK barley production is estimated down 652 Kt year-on-year to 6.439 Mt by AHDB, exceeding the expected 275 Kt decline in domestic consumption.
On Hectare Trading, feed barley achieved £168 in Cornwall, for movement in January. Malting barley saw offers up to £168 for November movement in the East Midlands.
Meanwhile, next year’s crop of milling oats achieved £158 in East Anglia for movement next November, and feed beans received offers up to £210 in the West Midlands, with a £7 offer range, for movement next month.
Wanted Crop
🌽 116t of Grain Maize is wanted for collection from across England. Wanted at £170-180/t ex-farm for November/December movement. Possible premiums available.
🌾116t of Feed Wheat is wanted for collection from Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, and Gwent. Wanted at £168-170/t ex-farm for November movement.
🌾Group 2, 3, 4, and Feed Wheat is wanted for collection from the East Anglia area. Wanted at £165-175/t ex-farm for spot movement.
