Feed Wheat

UK wheat prices have drawn support from several international weather risks, including drought conditions in the US, French flooding and a cold snap in Ukraine. Nonetheless, Ukraine’s 2026 wheat crop is projected to rise 3% to 23.1 million tonnes despite the ongoing war.

Since hitting a contract low of £165.80 on 17 February, London feed wheat (May 2026) has recovered well, hitting £169.30 on Monday. Since then the benchmark “old crop” contract has eased back, closing Thursday at £164.45.

On Hectare Trading, farmers have been locking in prices on their 2026 feed wheat by forward-selling in Yorkshire and the Humber, East Anglia and South and West Wales.

Milling Wheat

While UK milling premiums have been under pressure in recent months, our benchmark premium has risen to £11 this week.

Farmers on Hectare Trading have been forward-selling 2026 group 3 wheat in East Anglia, group 4 hard wheat in the East Midlands and North East Scotland and group 4 soft wheat in North East Scotland.

Paris milling wheat (March 2026) has weakened throughout the week, falling to €196.00 (£171.19) on Monday and €193.00 (£168.18) by Wednesday’s close. A quiet Thursday saw the contract finish at €193.25 (£169.31).

Oilseeds

The US Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Trump’s use of emergency powers to implement global tariffs, and the subsequent policy pivot to implement a new 10–15% global tariff, raised concerns over US–China trade. This has had a direct impact on Chicago soybean futures and the whole oilseed complex.

After reaching €491.25 (£428.91) on Tuesday, Paris rapeseed (May 2026) dropped €8.25 to €483.00 (£420.89) on Wednesday. At Thursday’s close, the contract had inched back up to €484.25 (£424.26).

Other Crop

The International Grains Council (IGC) confirmed that global grain production is on track for a third successive record year, increasing by 134 million tonnes year-on-year to 2.46 billion tonnes.

Global corn production is estimated at 1.31 billion tonnes, up from 1.24 billion tonnes last year.
