Domestic wheat prices see modest gains from stronger dollar
London feed wheat for July 2025 rose to £140.45, up 1.0% from last week's closing price of £139.00. The rise was supported by reports of weak yields in Ukraine and strengthening of the dollar, though the market remains cautious ahead of the anticipated supply increase over harvest, following reports of high levels of good to excellent corn crop coming from the US. The November 2025 contract fell to £177.15, down 0.3% from last week's closing price of £177.65.
On Hectare Trading, old crop feed wheat saw price offers up to £185 in Central Scotland for July 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £9, and received offers of £172 in South West for July 2025 movement. New crop feed wheat achieved offers up to £182 in North East Scotland for September 2025 movement and saw price offers of £176 in East Midlands for November 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £6.
Paris milling wheat for September 2025 rose to €197.25 (£169.90), up 0.6% from last week's closing price of €196.00 (£168.82). Support came from disappointing Ukrainian yields and a stronger dollar, lending strength to EU values. The carry to December 2025 narrowed to £9.26.
On Hectare Trading, old crop Group 1 wheat received offers up to £188 in Essex & Hertfordshire for July 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £8, and new crop achieved offers up to £198 in East Midlands for August 2025 movement, with an offer range of £8. Old crop Group 4 (hard) wheat achieved offers of £178 in Yorkshire and the Humber for July 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £12. Old crop Group 4 (soft) wheat saw price offers of £183 in North East Scotland for July 2025 movement, with a range of £8, and new crop Group 4 (soft) wheat received offers of £184 in North East Scotland for November 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £6.
Paris rapeseed for August 2025 fell to €461.00 (£397.07), down 2.7% from last week's closing price of €474.00 (£408.27). The decline followed weakness in Winnipeg canola markets, which pulled European prices lower, and is now down 9.8% from the recent high of €511.25 (£440.35) at the height of the Israel-Iran conflict a few weeks ago. The carry to November 2025 widened to £18.52.
On Hectare Trading, new crop oilseed rape saw price offers of £400 in North East Scotland for September 2025 movement, with a price offer range of £25.
Elsewhere on Hectare Trading, old crop feed barley saw offers up to £165 in Central Scotland for June 2025 movement, and new crop feed barley received offers of £151 in East Midlands for November 2025 movement.
