Harvest Report: 20 July 2026
Throughout harvest 2026, we’ll be sharing regular updates with first-hand accounts from arable farmers across the UK.
Check out our second report of 2026 below.
Harvest continues to gather pace across the UK, with strong barley yields being reported in the East Midlands and promising early results coming through from Scotland. Farmers in Shropshire have already wrapped up barley harvest and are well into oilseed rape, while dry conditions continue to influence yields elsewhere.
In Kent, Tim Piper is harvesting high-quality Group 1 milling wheat, with the best fields yielding around 10t/ha and excellent grain quality, despite drought cracks extending more than 2ft into the soil.
Elsewhere, Thomas Fisher reports better-than-expected seed wheat yields and has moved his oilseed rape harvest onto night shifts, taking advantage of higher overnight moisture to keep crop conditions within the ideal range.
