Milling Wheat
Despite ample global supplies, there are reports of strong demand for milling wheat including purchases by Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
Paris milling wheat futures continue to struggle to make significant gains due to the bearish fundamentals. The March 2026 contract eased off to €189.50 (£165.28) on Tuesday, remaining unchanged on Wednesday through to Thursday’s close.
Oilseeds
Last Friday’s trade agreement between Canada and China included dramatic tariff reductions on Canadian canola. This was followed by reports on Monday that China has already committed to purchase 60,000 tonnes of Canadian canola.
This boost to demand helped Paris rapeseed (February 2026) rise from last week’s close at €472.00 (£409.44) to €478.25 (£414.86) on Wednesday. However, some of these gains were pared back on Thursday, with the February contract easing to €476.25 (£413.13).
Other Crop
Australia reported barley exports of nearly 913,000 tonnes in November, the majority going to China.
