Harvest Report: 6 July 2026
Throughout harvest 2026, we’ll be sharing regular updates with first-hand accounts from arable farmers across the UK.
Check out our first report of 2026 below.
Harvest 2026 has begun, starting with winter barley across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and South East England.
In West Sussex, Andrew Gentle will be cutting OSR first, with wheat to follow around 14–15 July. Later-drilled Skyfall wheat is holding up well, while earlier-drilled Bamford is expected to ripen first.
In Kent, Tim Piper has completed his last applications and machinery checks and began harvesting winter linseed over the weekend.
In Essex, Chris Haylock reports that Skyfall is standing well and expected to yield around 8t/ha, although drought is likely to limit higher yields. Dawsum wheat is also looking clean and healthy, with expected yields of 7.5–8t/ha, and is set to be harvested three to four weeks after the Skyfall.
